Trying to help friends less fortunate which satisfies my maternal instinct. Carrying on with my maternal grandmother's same actions of cutting up, trying to make people laugh. That is the best medicine! Always was a hard worker & a perfectionist. Loved to teach & knew in 8th grade I wanted to teach Math. I was blessed in many ways, even thru the difficult times. My heroes were Shirley Temple & Sr Lucita, my 4th grade teacher. Having to wear contact lens from the age of 8 to prevent me from going blind, was hard mostly on my mother & me. Yet it built in me endurance, empathy, compassion & a drive to learn about my additional medical problems for myself by doing my own research. My doctors at Emory & Duke were amazed at my research.
